XL
A revision of John Baskerville’s eponymous transitional typeface Baskerville, Zuzanna Licko’s Mrs Eaves was first released in 1995. A perennial favourite - it has outsold every other Émigré font twofold - it now sits alongside classics including Helvetica, Univers and Bodoni as one of the world’s best-selling typefaces.
A carefully crafted serif, perfect for adding a little classicism to any web site, it has now been joined by Mrs Eaves XL, optimised for legibility at smaller sizes and where space is tight.
An extensive essay on the development of XL, which was four years in the making, is available at Émigré’s excellent web site. Perfect for typophiles or the more discerning reader.
